So, the babies got the "Your Baby Can Read" system for Christmas. At first, I was very diligent about showing them the books and DVD every day. You're supposed to show them the DVD twice a day (it's only about 15 minutes in length) and show them the books several times a day. The books show the word first and then you pull open the flap and it will show a picture that correlates with the word. Initially they didn't have the attention span to sit and watch the DVD and over time I was doing the books less and less. But, over the past couple of weeks they are all of a sudden really interested in the DVD. They stop what they are doing and pay very close attention to it. To my surprise, they can now read the words "clap", "wave" and "arms up"! They will do the motions for each word as soon as they see it before the narrator says the words! I have to say, I'm a little amazed! At first, I thought, if anything they would at the very least broaden their vocabulary with the system. I had low expectations of them actually being able to read, but low and behold.....my babies are reading!!!
